    Real results

See the difference on a real carpet

"The carpets had heavy traffic marks, general wear, and some noticeable staining, but after the clean they looked dramatically refreshed and much brighter. Mantas did a great job!"

    Rebecca Stewart, Google review

The small photo is the proof. One picture, taken halfway through. Dirty side, clean side, nothing edited.

"I honestly thought a few of the high-traffic stains were permanent, but he managed to get them looking like new again. He was punctual, professional, and very careful with the furniture."

    Laima Zakariene, Google review

"He talked us through the whole process, and the results are fantastic, the carpets look brand new. Highly recommend."

    Sofas too

    Sofa cleaning in St Neots

I clean sofas and armchairs in St Neots as well as carpets, and a lot of my work is sofas. If you want both done, it is one visit.

Sofas and armchairs Where the dirt really builds up

Arms, headrests and seat cushions take body oils long before a sofa looks dirty. That is what turns a light fabric dull and grey, and it does come out.

Fabric only I don't clean leather

Fabric sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and cushions. If yours is leather, I will tell you straight away rather than take the job.

Tested first Every fabric checked before I start

I check the care label and test a hidden spot, because some fabrics mark if they get too wet. Then I clean to suit what it is made of.

One visit for both. If you want carpets and a sofa done together, say so when you book and I will price them as one job. A sofa is usually dry in a few hours, and fabric protection can go on at the end. More on sofa cleaning.

    Booking me

    What happens on the day

No surprises. Here is exactly how a carpet clean goes.

    1
    Before I arrive

Clear the small things off the floor and move what furniture you can manage. Anything too heavy or awkward, leave it and I'll give you a hand with it when I get there. St Neots is far enough out that I like to fix a time rather than say morning. If you are in a flat, or on a new street where parking is tight, say so when you book, because a space near the door means a shorter hose, better suction and a carpet that dries faster.

    2
    When I get there

We look at the rooms together and I confirm the price. Nothing starts until you are happy with it. Then I set up, which takes a few minutes.

    3
    While I work

Stay in or go out, whatever suits you. Most homes take about half a day. I work room by room so you always have somewhere to sit.

    4
    When I finish

We walk round every room together. I take all my kit with me and leave the place tidy.

    My method

    How I clean
    your carpet

The same six steps on every job, whether it's one room or the whole house.

Checking a carpet before cleaning it in a Bedford home
    Step 01

    I check the carpet

First I find out what your carpet is made of. That tells me which products are safe to use on it.

Vacuuming a carpet before any water is used
    Step 02

    I vacuum first

Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry. I take that out before any water goes near it.

Spraying cleaning solution onto a carpet before brushing it in
    Step 03

    I spray the cleaner on

The cleaner goes on and sits for a few minutes. That gives it time to loosen the dirt.

A machine brush working cleaner into a carpet
    Step 04

    I brush it in

A machine brush works it right down to the bottom of the carpet, where the grease sits.

Hot water rinsing dirt and soap back out of a carpet
    Step 05

    I rinse it out

Hot water pulls the dirt and the soap straight back out. Nothing sticky is left behind.

Combing a freshly cleaned carpet so it dries evenly
    Step 06

    I comb it flat

I comb the carpet so it dries faster and looks even all over.

    St Neots

What St Neots carpets are up against

St Neots is over thirty thousand people now, and most of it is younger than it looks. In 1961 it was a market town of about five and a half thousand. Ten years later it had passed fifteen thousand, and it has not stopped growing since. So the carpet you want cleaned could be in a riverside cottage or in a house that is only a few years old.

The river runs through it Two banks, one town

The Great Ouse splits St Neots, with Eaton Socon and Eaton Ford on the west bank and the old centre and Eynesbury on the east. Eaton Socon was part of Bedfordshire until 1965. The meadows along the river are kept as flood meadow, and river silt is very fine rather than gritty, so it dulls a carpet evenly instead of leaving obvious marks.

The 1960s and 70s A town that nearly tripled in ten years

Most of that growth came with the London overspill scheme, when estates went up around Eynesbury off Hardwick Road, Sandfields Road and Potton Road. Houses from that time usually have one carpet running from the front door, up the stairs and across the landing. The bottom step and the top of the landing tend to show wear before anywhere else.

Loves Farm and Wintringham New homes east of the railway

Loves Farm added around fourteen hundred homes on the far side of the railway, and Wintringham is going up beside it, with up to 2,800 more planned. Newer carpets are normally synthetic and fine to clean early. Dust from a building site nearby is very fine, though, and it settles deep into a new pile where a household vacuum does not reach.

Station and commute Out early, back late

The station is on the East Coast line, about forty five minutes from King's Cross, so plenty of St Neots is out at work all day. That is not a problem. Tell me when someone can let me in and I will fix a time around it.

St Neots is around ten miles out and nothing is added to the price for it. It is in Cambridgeshire rather than Bedfordshire, but it sits well inside my 20 miles. The same hot rinse I use on any carpet clean in Bedford comes with me.

Yes. St Neots, Eaton Socon, Eaton Ford, Eynesbury and Little Paxton are all inside my 20 miles from Bedford, so there is no travel charge. You pay the same as you would in Bedford.

Not at all. The county line has nothing to do with it. I go by distance, and St Neots is about ten miles from Bedford.

Yes. The machine stays in the van and the hoses come in, so the main things I need to know are which floor you are on and where I can park. If the hose run is a long one, I plan for it before I arrive.

Yes. In a lot of houses the stairs and landing look worse than the rooms, because everyone walks the same line. The £120 minimum still applies, so if there is a room you have been meaning to get done, it is often worth adding it to the same visit.

Usually, yes. Mud comes out best once it is completely dry, vacuumed and then rinsed. Wet mud is worth leaving alone rather than rubbing, because rubbing pushes it further in. If anything has dyed the fibre rather than just sitting on it, I will tell you on the day.

Someone needs to let me in and walk round with me at the start and again at the end, so we agree what is being done and you can check it before I go. In between, you can get on with your day.

Usually within the week. Send me the rooms and your postcode and I will come back with a price and the first days I have free.

    The guarantee

    I don't leave
    until you're happy.

    • Before I pack up, we walk round every room together.
    • See a patch you're not happy with? I clean it again while I'm still there.
    • You see the finished job before I go, so there are no surprises after.

    No forms. No argument.

Also in St Neots: sofa and upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, mattress cleaning, stain removal and fabric protection. Same visit if you want them done together.
