    Real results

See the difference on a real carpet

"The carpets had heavy traffic marks, general wear, and some noticeable staining, but after the clean they looked dramatically refreshed and much brighter. Mantas did a great job!"

    Rebecca Stewart, Google review

The small photo is the proof. One picture, taken halfway through. Dirty side, clean side, nothing edited.

"I honestly thought a few of the high-traffic stains were permanent, but he managed to get them looking like new again. He was punctual, professional, and very careful with the furniture."

    Laima Zakariene, Google review

"He talked us through the whole process, and the results are fantastic, the carpets look brand new. Highly recommend."

    Sofas too

    Sofa cleaning in Biggleswade

I clean sofas and armchairs in Biggleswade as well as carpets, and a lot of my work is sofas. If you want both done, it is one visit.

Sofas and armchairs Where the dirt really builds up

Arms, headrests and seat cushions take body oils long before a sofa looks dirty. That is what turns a light fabric dull and grey, and it does come out.

Fabric only I don't clean leather

Fabric sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and cushions. If yours is leather, I will tell you straight away rather than take the job.

Tested first Every fabric checked before I start

I check the care label and test a hidden spot, because some fabrics mark if they get too wet. Then I clean to suit what it is made of.

One visit for both. If you want carpets and a sofa done together, say so when you book and I will price them as one job. A sofa is usually dry in a few hours, and fabric protection can go on at the end. More on sofa cleaning.

    Booking me

    What happens on the day

No surprises. Here is exactly how a carpet clean goes.

    1
    Before I arrive

Clear the small things off the floor and move what furniture you can manage. Anything too heavy or awkward, leave it and I'll give you a hand with it when I get there. Biggleswade is far enough out that I like to fix a time rather than say morning. If you are on a new estate where the roads are still being finished or parking is tight, say so when you book, because a space near the door means a shorter hose, better suction and a carpet that dries faster.

    2
    When I get there

We look at the rooms together and I confirm the price. Nothing starts until you are happy with it. Then I set up, which takes a few minutes.

    3
    While I work

Stay in or go out, whatever suits you. Most homes take about half a day. I work room by room so you always have somewhere to sit.

    4
    When I finish

We walk round every room together. I take all my kit with me and leave the place tidy.

    My method

    How I clean
    your carpet

The same six steps on every job, whether it's one room or the whole house.

Checking a carpet before cleaning it in a Bedford home
    Step 01

    I check the carpet

First I find out what your carpet is made of. That tells me which products are safe to use on it.

Vacuuming a carpet before any water is used
    Step 02

    I vacuum first

Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry. I take that out before any water goes near it.

Spraying cleaning solution onto a carpet before brushing it in
    Step 03

    I spray the cleaner on

The cleaner goes on and sits for a few minutes. That gives it time to loosen the dirt.

A machine brush working cleaner into a carpet
    Step 04

    I brush it in

A machine brush works it right down to the bottom of the carpet, where the grease sits.

Hot water rinsing dirt and soap back out of a carpet
    Step 05

    I rinse it out

Hot water pulls the dirt and the soap straight back out. Nothing sticky is left behind.

Combing a freshly cleaned carpet so it dries evenly
    Step 06

    I comb it flat

I comb the carpet so it dries faster and looks even all over.

    Biggleswade

What Biggleswade carpets are up against

Biggleswade has grown faster than almost anywhere round here. About twenty two and a half thousand people lived in the town at the 2021 census, up by more than a third in ten years, and more homes are still going up on the east side. Behind all that is an old market town on the River Ivel with a charter going back to 1227.

The east side New carpets, building dust

King's Reach opened in 2018 and East Biggleswade beside it has permission for up to 1,500 more homes. Living next to a site means fine dust gets in however careful you are. It is lighter than ordinary soil and sinks right down into a new pile, so a carpet can look grey long before it has had any real wear.

Renting About one home in seven is let privately

At the last census just under fifteen percent of homes in Biggleswade were privately rented. When a tenancy ends, the carpet is often what the deposit comes down to, so it is worth doing properly. Tell me the day you hand the keys back and I will work back from it, with time for the carpet to dry.

The Common Three hundred acres of grazing

Biggleswade Common is the biggest common in Bedfordshire, grazed by cattle and horses, and dogs stay on a lead there. It is a lovely walk and a muddy one in winter. If a dog has walked it through the house, let it dry rather than scrubbing at it. Dry mud vacuums out, wet mud gets pushed in.

The old town Rebuilt after the fire of 1785

A fire in 1785 took out about a third of the town, so much of the centre dates from the rebuild, with Victorian terraces added after the railway arrived in 1850. Older terraces often have narrow halls and steep stairs, and that is where the wear shows first.

Biggleswade is around ten miles out and nothing is added to the price for it. Stratton, Langford and Upper Caldecote are included too. The same hot rinse I use on any carpet clean in Bedford comes with me.

Yes. Biggleswade and the villages around it are inside my 20 miles from Bedford, so there is no travel charge. The price is worked out the same way as anywhere else.

Yes. Building dust is fine and dry, so most of it comes out with a slow, thorough vacuum before anything wet goes on. The rinse then takes out what is left in the base of the pile. Doing it the other way round turns the dust into a paste.

Yes. Tell me the date you hand the keys back and I will book you in before it, leaving time for the carpet to dry. You get a receipt you can show the letting agent.

Yes, as long as it is a fabric rug I can check first. Wool and synthetic rugs are fine. If a rug is very old or hand made, I test a hidden corner before doing the rest.

We walk round together before I pack up. If there is a patch you are not happy with, I clean it again there and then, while I still have everything with me.

Yes. The minimum charge is £120, so a single room is fine. If a hall or landing needs doing as well, it often fits into the same visit.

Usually the same week. Tell me the rooms and I will come back with a firm price and the first free day.
