Maulden is a straight run down the A6 and the drive is on me. A proper hot rinse that gets the sand out of the bottom of the pile rather than moving it about on top.

Sofa cleaning in Maulden
I clean sofas and armchairs in Maulden as well as carpets, and a lot of my work is sofas. If you want both done, it is one visit.
Arms, headrests and seat cushions take body oils long before a sofa looks dirty. That is what turns a light fabric dull and grey, and it does come out.
Fabric sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and cushions. If yours is leather, I will tell you straight away rather than take the job.
I check the care label and test a hidden spot, because some fabrics mark if they get too wet. Then I clean to suit what it is made of.
One visit for both. If you want carpets and a sofa done together, say so when you book and I will price them as one job. A sofa is usually dry in a few hours, and fabric protection can go on at the end. More on sofa cleaning.
What happens on the day
No surprises. Here is exactly how a carpet clean goes.
Clear the small things off the floor and move what furniture you can manage. Anything too heavy or awkward, leave it and I'll give you a hand with it when I get there. Maulden is about eight miles down the A6 so I will give you a set time rather than a vague morning. The village runs a long way along two roads and up the hill, so tell me which end you are when you book and I will plan the day round it.
We look at the rooms together and I confirm the price. Nothing starts until you are happy with it. Then I set up, which takes a few minutes.
Stay in or go out, whatever suits you. Most homes take about half a day. I work room by room so you always have somewhere to sit.
We walk round every room together. I take all my kit with me and leave the place tidy.
How I clean
your carpet
The same six steps on every job, whether it's one room or the whole house.
I check the carpet
First I find out what your carpet is made of. That tells me which products are safe to use on it.
I vacuum first
Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry. I take that out before any water goes near it.
I spray the cleaner on
The cleaner goes on and sits for a few minutes. That gives it time to loosen the dirt.
I brush it in
A machine brush works it right down to the bottom of the carpet, where the grease sits.
I rinse it out
Hot water pulls the dirt and the soap straight back out. Nothing sticky is left behind.
I comb it flat
I comb the carpet so it dries faster and looks even all over.

What Maulden carpets are up against
Maulden is built on the Greensand Ridge and partly built out of it, with the ground rising from under two hundred feet by the river to over three hundred and fifty at the top. It has also had close to two hundred new houses go up since 2015, so the place you live in might be three hundred years old or three.
The church and a lot of the old walls here are built out of the greensand the village stands on, which is why they go that particular ochre brown colour. That stone is sandy and it weathers, and what weathers off it ends up on the paths and then on your floor. Sand is the one that does real damage over time, because it is sharp and it sits at the bottom of the pile grinding away every time somebody walks across.
This is not a flat village. There is low ground down towards the river and the top end is well over a hundred feet above it. What comes through the door at the bottom of the hill and what comes through at the top are genuinely different, wetter and heavier down low, drier and sandier up high. It is worth mentioning which you are when you ask for a price.
The parish put together a report on this in 2024 after a run of bad winters, naming specific streets and pointing at silted drains and a high water table. If you are somewhere that has been affected, a carpet after standing water is not a cleaning job, it is a drying and checking job first. Say so when you get in touch and I will treat it as what it is.
Close to two hundred houses have gone up here since 2015, a lot of it filled in between what was already there. That means no assumptions work. I have no idea until I look whether your room is a modern build with a slab under it or something with a lot more history, and the honest answer is I would rather find out standing in it than guess on the phone.
Maulden is about eight miles down the A6 and nothing goes on the bill for the drive. I usually pair it with Ampthill, Flitwick or Silsoe on the same day, so if you can be flexible about which day it often comes round quicker.

01234 634521 contact@purgebright.co.ukYes, top end and bottom end both. It is about eight miles down the A6 from me. No travel charge, and the price is no different to a job in Bedford.
Tell me the rooms and roughly what they are like and I will give you a firm number. The minimum call-out is £120. The drive makes no difference to what you pay.
Almost certainly sand, and on this ridge that is exactly what I would expect. It works down to the base of the pile where a vacuum cannot reach it, and it is sharp, so every footstep is effectively sanding the fibre. It is the thing that actually wears a carpet out, and it is the thing a proper rinse is for.
First thing is to look at it honestly. Standing water changes the question from cleaning to drying, and what matters is how long it sat and what the underlay has done. If it can be saved I will tell you, and if it needs lifting I will tell you that instead rather than taking your money for a clean that will not fix it.
Usually the opposite. A new carpet has the most open pile it will ever have, so the sand around here gets right down into it from day one. Getting it out early is what keeps it looking right in five years.
No, but tell me. The machine stays in the van and a hose comes in, so what I need to know is how far your door is from somewhere I can stop. On a slope that is worth knowing in advance rather than working out on the day.
Usually within the week. I group it with Ampthill, Flitwick and Silsoe when I can, so being a bit flexible on the day tends to get you seen sooner.
