Sofa cleaning in Cranfield
I clean sofas and armchairs in Cranfield as well as carpets, and a lot of my work is sofas. If you want both done, it is one visit.
Arms, headrests and seat cushions take body oils long before a sofa looks dirty. That is what turns a light fabric dull and grey, and it does come out.
Fabric sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and cushions. If yours is leather, I will tell you straight away rather than take the job.
I check the care label and test a hidden spot, because some fabrics mark if they get too wet. Then I clean to suit what it is made of.
One visit for both. If you want carpets and a sofa done together, say so when you book and I will price them as one job. A sofa is usually dry in a few hours, and fabric protection can go on at the end. More on sofa cleaning.
What happens on the day
No surprises. Here is exactly how a carpet clean goes.
Clear the small things off the floor and move what furniture you can manage. Anything too heavy or awkward, leave it and I'll give you a hand with it when I get there. Cranfield is a fair run out so I would rather fix a time than give you a window. If you are up at Wharley End near the campus or out at one of the ends, say which when you book, because it is a spread out parish and knowing where you are helps me plan the day properly.
We look at the rooms together and I confirm the price. Nothing starts until you are happy with it. Then I set up, which takes a few minutes.
Stay in or go out, whatever suits you. Most homes take about half a day. I work room by room so you always have somewhere to sit.
We walk round every room together. I take all my kit with me and leave the place tidy.
How I clean
your carpet
The same six steps on every job, whether it's one room or the whole house.
I check the carpet
First I find out what your carpet is made of. That tells me which products are safe to use on it.
I vacuum first
Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry. I take that out before any water goes near it.
I spray the cleaner on
The cleaner goes on and sits for a few minutes. That gives it time to loosen the dirt.
I brush it in
A machine brush works it right down to the bottom of the carpet, where the grease sits.
I rinse it out
Hot water pulls the dirt and the soap straight back out. Nothing sticky is left behind.
I comb it flat
I comb the carpet so it dries faster and looks even all over.

What Bedford homeowners say
5.0 out of 5 across every review left on Google.
"Absolutely first class in all aspects of the service. The best my carpet and sofas have looked since they were new."
"A local company had already told us they wouldn't be able to achieve good results cleaning our sofas and carpets, so we weren't very hopeful… the transformation exceeded our expectations."
"The carpets had heavy traffic marks, general wear, and some noticeable staining, but after the clean they looked dramatically refreshed and much brighter."
What Cranfield carpets are up against
Cranfield sits high up, over three hundred and fifty feet, on a plateau with the old village spreading out from the church and separate hamlets scattered round the edges. Add a postgraduate university and an airfield on the doorstep and you get a village that does not behave like the ones down in the valley.
Most of what I cover sits low, in the Ouse valley or the Marston Vale. Cranfield does not. It stands on a plateau over three hundred and fifty feet up, which changes the weather you get, the wind you get, and what blows about outside your front door. People who move here from town usually notice it in the first winter.
The odd thing about this plateau is that it is capped with heavy clay, and the parish is dotted with ponds because of it. High ground that does not drain is not what people assume. What comes in off it is sticky rather than dusty, and sticky needs loosening before anything will shift it, which is a slower job than lifting dry soil.
A postgraduate university in the village means a steady flow of people arriving and leaving on the academic calendar rather than the usual house moving season. A lot of that housing is let furnished, carpets included, and it turns over in late summer. If you are a landlord here, the time to sort a carpet is before the viewing, not after the check out.
Cranfield is one of the further places I go, out on the A421 towards Milton Keynes. There is no travel charge for it, but I will usually offer you a set time rather than a loose morning, because it is not a village I can nip back to if something overruns.
Cranfield is around ten miles out and there is nothing added for the drive. It is far enough that I book a proper time with you rather than a window. The same method comes with me as on any carpet clean in Bedford.
Yes, I come to Cranfield
Cranfield is roughly ten miles out on the A421, towards Milton Keynes. No travel charge, and no waiting longer than anyone in town.
Plus Biddenham, Stagsden, Elstow, Cople, Roxton, Sharnbrook, Silsoe, Cardington, Flitwick, Great Barford, Maulden, Houghton Conquest, Lidlington and every village in between.

Questions people in Cranfield ask
If something isn't covered here, just ask. It's a one-person business, so you'll always get a straight answer.
Ask me directly. I answer every message myself, usually within the hour.
01234 634521 contact@purgebright.co.ukYes, including Wharley End and Bourne End. It is around ten miles out on the A421 and there is no travel charge. The price is the same as a job in Bedford.
Tell me which rooms and roughly what they are like and I will give you a firm number. The minimum call-out is £120. The distance makes no difference to what you pay.
Yes, and that is a good chunk of what I do. Book it for after the furniture has gone and before the next viewing, so nothing gets walked on again in between. You get a proper invoice with it, and if an agent queries anything I will speak to them myself.
It changes the method. Sticky ground has to be loosened and given time to release before any water goes down, otherwise you just spread it about. It is a slower job than lifting dry soil, which is worth knowing when you are comparing me to somebody quoting an hour for a whole house.
Most of the time, yes. A typical three or four bedroom house here is about half a day. Being this far out I would rather do the whole thing in one trip than come back twice, and I will tell you honestly if what you have described will not fit in a day.
No. The twenty mile line is the twenty mile line and Cranfield is inside it. What the distance does change is how I book you, because I will offer a set time rather than a vague morning, and I would rather be straight about that than turn up late.
Usually within the week. I try to pair Cranfield with Marston Moretaine or Wootton on the same day, so if you have any flexibility on which day, it often comes round faster.
