Sofa cleaning in Flitwick
I clean sofas and armchairs in Flitwick as well as carpets, and a lot of my work is sofas. If you want both done, it is one visit.
Arms, headrests and seat cushions take body oils long before a sofa looks dirty. That is what turns a light fabric dull and grey, and it does come out.
Fabric sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and cushions. If yours is leather, I will tell you straight away rather than take the job.
I check the care label and test a hidden spot, because some fabrics mark if they get too wet. Then I clean to suit what it is made of.
One visit for both. If you want carpets and a sofa done together, say so when you book and I will price them as one job. A sofa is usually dry in a few hours, and fabric protection can go on at the end. More on sofa cleaning.
What happens on the day
No surprises. Here is exactly how a carpet clean goes.
Clear the small things off the floor and move what furniture you can manage. Anything too heavy or awkward, leave it and I'll give you a hand with it when I get there. Flitwick is far enough out that I like to fix a time rather than say morning. If you are near the station and parking is awkward at certain times of day, say so when you book, because a space near the door means a shorter hose, better suction and a carpet that dries faster.
We look at the rooms together and I confirm the price. Nothing starts until you are happy with it. Then I set up, which takes a few minutes.
Stay in or go out, whatever suits you. Most homes take about half a day. I work room by room so you always have somewhere to sit.
We walk round every room together. I take all my kit with me and leave the place tidy.
How I clean
your carpet
The same six steps on every job, whether it's one room or the whole house.
I check the carpet
First I find out what your carpet is made of. That tells me which products are safe to use on it.
I vacuum first
Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry. I take that out before any water goes near it.
I spray the cleaner on
The cleaner goes on and sits for a few minutes. That gives it time to loosen the dirt.
I brush it in
A machine brush works it right down to the bottom of the carpet, where the grease sits.
I rinse it out
Hot water pulls the dirt and the soap straight back out. Nothing sticky is left behind.
I comb it flat
I comb the carpet so it dries faster and looks even all over.

What Flitwick carpets are up against
Flitwick is a proper town now, over thirteen thousand people, but it grew out of three separate ends and the railway cut straight through the middle of them in 1870. That is still the shape of the place, and it means the house you are in could be from almost any decade.
Before the station arrived there were three separate clusters here, around the church, out at the east end by the mill, and up at Denel End. The line went through in 1870 and the town filled in around all of it afterwards. That is why Flitwick has no single old centre and why two streets ten minutes apart can be a century apart in age. I do not assume anything about a house here until I have seen it.
A lot of people here are out early and back late on the train, which does something specific to a carpet. The hall and the bottom three stairs take the whole household twice a day, in outdoor shoes, usually in a hurry. Everywhere else in the house stays fairly clean and that one strip does all the work. It is the most common thing I get asked to rescue.
Flitwick Moor sits on the edge of the town and it is the biggest wetland in the county, wet peat rather than the clay you get closer to Bedford. Peat comes in dark and very fine. It does not sit on top in lumps the way mud does, it goes straight down into the pile and it makes a carpet look tired rather than dirty. That is a different job from lifting mud and it takes longer.
Flitwick is the far end of what I cover, so I will not pretend I can drop in at an hour. What I will do is give you a proper time and keep it. There is no travel charge, and being further out does not put you further back in the queue, it just means I would rather book you in than leave it vague.
Flitwick is around ten miles out and nothing is added to the price for it. It is a longer run than the villages near Bedford, so I will usually offer you a set time rather than a window. The same hot rinse I use on any carpet clean in Bedford comes with me.

Questions people in Flitwick ask
If something isn't covered here, just ask. It's a one-person business, so you'll always get a straight answer.
Ask me directly. I answer every message myself, usually within the hour.
01234 634521 contact@purgebright.co.ukYes, and Ampthill and Maulden on the same run. It is around ten miles from me, which is towards the outer edge of what I cover, but there is no travel charge and the price is the same as a job in Bedford.
Tell me which rooms need doing and roughly what they are like, and I will come back with a firm number. The minimum call-out is £120. Nothing gets added on afterwards and the distance makes no difference to it.
Usually yes, and it is the job I do most. A hall and a staircase take the whole household several times a day while the back rooms barely get walked on, so they age at completely different rates. What looks like worn out carpet is very often soil packed down along the route everybody takes, and it lifts.
Tell me what suits and I will tell you honestly what I can do. Being ten miles out means I would rather set a time with you than leave it open, so if a Saturday is the only thing that works, say so early and I will try to build the day around it.
Mostly peat, and it behaves differently. It is very fine and very dark, and instead of drying into a lump you can hoover up it works its way down into the bottom of the pile. That is why the carpet looks flat and grey rather than obviously muddy. It comes out, it just wants proper rinsing rather than a surface clean.
Probably sooner than you would think. New carpet has the loosest pile it will ever have, so anything walked in goes straight to the bottom. Getting it out early is what keeps it looking right for years instead of months.
Usually within the week. I tend to group Flitwick, Ampthill and Maulden into the same day where I can, so if you are flexible about which day, it is often quicker than you expect.
