★★★★★"The carpets had heavy traffic marks, general wear, and some noticeable staining, but after the clean they looked dramatically refreshed and much brighter. Mantas did a great job!"

The small photo is the proof. One picture, taken halfway through. Dirty side, clean side, nothing edited.

What happens on the day
No surprises. Here is exactly how a carpet clean goes.
Clear the small things off the floor and move what furniture you can manage. Anything too heavy or awkward, leave it and I'll give you a hand with it when I get there. Sharnbrook is a long village, so tell me roughly where on the High Street you are when you book. It saves me crawling the length of it looking for a number.
We look at the rooms together and I confirm the price. Nothing starts until you are happy with it. Then I set up, which takes a few minutes.
Stay in or go out, whatever suits you. Most homes take about half a day. I work room by room so you always have somewhere to sit.
We walk round every room together. I take all my kit with me and leave the place tidy.
How I clean
your carpet
The same six steps on every job, whether it's one room or the whole house.
I check the carpet
First I find out what your carpet is made of. That tells me which products are safe to use on it.
I vacuum first
Most of the dirt in a carpet is dry. I take that out before any water goes near it.
I spray the cleaner on
The cleaner goes on and sits for a few minutes. That gives it time to loosen the dirt.
I brush it in
A machine brush works it right down to the bottom of the carpet, where the grease sits.
I rinse it out
Hot water pulls the dirt and the soap straight back out. Nothing sticky is left behind.
I comb it flat
I comb the carpet so it dries faster and looks even all over.

What Sharnbrook carpets are up against
A long ribbon of a village on the Great Ouse, about eight miles up the A6. The river is the making of the place, and it is also the reason carpets here have a harder life than they do in town.
Sharnbrook sits just above a loop in the Great Ouse, and the High Street falls inside the flood warning area for this stretch of river. Most years that means nothing worse than soft ground and a heavy feeling in the house through winter. It still matters for a carpet clean. A carpet in a damp house needs more water taken back out of it, not less, and that is down to the machine rather than the effort.
Some of the High Street cottages are limestone rubble under thatch, and there is a lot of seventeenth and eighteenth century work mixed in with the newer brick. Buildings like that usually have a solid floor beneath the carpet. Damp rises through a solid floor and then sits there. It changes how long a room takes to dry, and it is better to know that before I start rather than after.
The academy pulls pupils in from more than twenty parishes, so the roads here are busier morning and afternoon than a village this size should be. More cars means more of the road ending up on the doormat. It is fine dust rather than mud, and fine dust is what turns a light hall carpet grey without ever leaving a mark you could point at.
The village runs a long way from one end to the other. Down the closes there is usually a drive and room to work. Up in the old part of the High Street it is on-street, and a couple of the frontages are tight. Parking close means a shorter hose run, which means better suction and a drier carpet. Tell me which end you're at and I'll sort the rest.
Sharnbrook is about fifteen minutes up the A6, and there's no travel charge. Being north of the river doesn't cost you extra and it doesn't mean waiting longer. I'm up that way most weeks.

Questions people in Sharnbrook ask
If something isn't covered here, just ask. It's a one-person business, so you'll always get a straight answer.
Ask me directly. I answer every message myself, usually within the hour.
01234 634521 contact@purgebright.co.ukYes, and there's nothing extra for it. I'm in Bedford, so it's about fifteen minutes up the A6 through Milton Ernest. Plenty of cleaners add a charge for anything north of Clapham. I don't.
It depends how many rooms and what condition they're in, so tell me what you need and I'll price it up. The minimum call-out is £120, with nothing added for the drive. You get the full price up front and it doesn't change afterwards.
Not the way I do it. The whole point of the last two steps is getting the water back out, and I'd rather take an extra pass than leave a carpet wet in a house that already holds damp. If a room is genuinely wet rather than just cold, I'll say so and we'll deal with the cause first.
Hours rather than days in a normal house. Nearer the river, and in the older places with a solid floor under the carpet, allow longer. Crack a window and keep the door shut on that room if you can. You'll get a proper estimate for your rooms on the day.
Yes, and they're usually the dirtiest thing in the house. Stairs take more traffic per square foot than anywhere else and they're the hardest part to vacuum properly. If you're having the hall done it makes very little sense to stop at the bottom step.
Small things off the floor if you can manage it. Anything heavy or awkward, leave it where it is. Some of the older cottages up here have narrow doors and low beams, and I'd sooner move a wardrobe with you than have you try it alone.
Usually the same week. Ring me or send the details over and I'll tell you what's free. It's one visit for most houses, about half a day, and then it's done.
I don't leave
until you're happy.
- Before I pack up, we walk round every room together.
- See a patch you're not happy with? I clean it again while I'm still there.
- You see the finished job before I go, so there are no surprises after.
No forms. No argument.
